For Casey Haggerty :)

Ok, So I have decided to do it, I am finally going to start updating this thing. I know I have been updating Facebook, but for those of you who don't have a Facebook and want to know what's going on with my life in France, here goes....
To start off, I am not going to even attempt to catch up on what I have not writing about. I know that's a bummer for some of you, but I can't even begin to think about, let alone actually summarize, my life these past three months. I think it will work out for the better, it makes this task seem a lot more manageable so I can start to write now, and not just stress about all I haven't written (oops), but also I will have so many more stories to tell all of you when I get back (and that's just a good thing for everyone, we all know how repetitive I can get, and yes, I now do that in French.)
So... where to start... Today is the monday after easter, and I am on vacation! In France, they finish school in July, however, we get 2 weeks off in February and 2 weeks off for Easter, so it all pans out the same. For my first week of vacation, I will be spending it with my German friend Anni, here in Cherbourg until thursday, and after that, I will be going camping and visiting family of my host family in the south of France in Pyranne (or at least I think that's how you spell it :) Anyways, tomorrow me and Anni are heading off to Caen, the capital of Basse Normandie, for the day! We are hopping on the train tomorrow morning and will be visiting a chateau there, and of course doing some shopping! I absolutely LOVE the town where I live, but it will be nice to visit other places as well. (Note* I have been to Caen before with my theater class 2x actually, but we were always running really late( ahhh Mme Leclerc) so now I will get to see more of the city!) Ok, speaking of theater (warning, I am sure this blog will be getting more spacey as I go on) I LOVE my theater class. Not just the curriculum and the field trips (although those aren't bad either) but also my teacher, and most importantly, my class! (Thank gosh for that one  because in France, all of you classes are with pretty much the same group of people.) But in all seriousness, I could not have handpicked a better host family, town, school, or classmates to be with, I literally had a moment the other day when I was just like, oh crud, I am going to have to leave this all in just a matter of 3 more months...how am I already halfway done?!?
Okay, to get back on track (hopefully this blog organization will get better as I keep updating) I am loving my theater! This wednesday and thursday we performed "Le roi s'amuse" at a public theater in Cherbourg!(Photos coming soon hopefully if I can get it to work!) We got a pretty good response from it, and I had so much fun doing it! Theater is a WHOLE other ordeal in France, but I am really liking it here too! Have I mentioned I LOVE MY CLASS!!!!!??!!!!!
Alright, so I think this is all of the random spacey-ness I am going to put you all through for now. I have so much more to say, so many stories to tell, so many new ideas and theories I think I better understand now, and feel the need to explain and teach to my peers, but luckilly, I have so much more time to do that. So, for now, I am going running in the rain with my German.
Gros Bisous!
~Sarah
P.S. I finally decided to update this thing for another friend who is living in France and wrote me a strongly worded postcard telling me to get my butt in gear. Love you Casey! :)

  1. Hi Sarah,

My name is KC Owens; I’m a college student who loves to travel! While cruising the Internet, I found your site and really enjoyed reading your posts. Personally, I think traveling is a necessary part of life as you’re exposed to all sorts of new cultures and experiences. While enjoying time abroad, I've found it's crucial to fully understand the dangers that you might encounter along the way. These mishaps are part of life and certainly part of travel but it’s always a great idea to take preventive measures to help ensure your safety while abroad.

I was hoping that you would allow me to write a post for your site to share my travel safety tips with your readers? I put a lot of time and passion into my traveling and I would love to help others by offering safety advice as a result of the mistakes and triumphs I've had. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best,

    KC Owens
